Low Technology Soap Making Booklets

The soap making boolket was originally prepared for Christians in Burma living in mountainious regions who for one reason or another were cut off from being able to use industrial chemicals, and needed to make soap to help stop the spread of certain common and tropical diseases.

The method is very time consuming and until experiance is gained, very difficult to make.

The booklets made freely available here may be downloaded and printed and distributed for free - not for profit.

It is not permitted that the booklets be sold other than for a small fee to recover any printing or distribution costs.

The files are in two types, pdfs which are opened in (see here:) Acrobat Reader, and compressed files which have a pdf in them. The compressed files down load more qucikly but you need a programme like Winzip, or Xp, Vista, or Mac - OS to open the files to get the pdf out for use.

The booklet is available in different dpis, that refers to the quality of the images. The higher the dpi, the higher the print job's quality is likely to be. This also means that the file is going to take longer to download which if you are in an isolated place, and if your internet connection frequently breaks, you may be forced to download a lower dpi booklet.

The next consideration is whether you want to produce the booklets on A4 sheets or as two booklets up on A3 sheets. If this seems unclear, stick with A4 (both of these are designed to be (see here:) double sided).

You could also choose A5 which is not yet as such double sided, or shaped up into a folding booklet.

The 1200dpi booklet is recommended for reproduction on a high class printing setup.
